A.R.G.’s brand of Thrash is aggressive and violent! Finnish thrashers A.R.G. return for another fine slab of monstrous Death/Thrash Metal. The collection of songs here are about as subtle as a wrecking ball to the face!
A.R.G., nowadays known as the backronym for Ancient Rotten Graveguards, but originally standing for Aku Raaska Group, was one of
the bands in the first wave of Finnish thrash metal in the latter half of the 80’s. A.R.G.’s brand of thrash is quite aggressive and violent. In the greater view of the fields of thrash, their output is definitely more in the German vein of things than in the US styled Bay Area way of doing things or the New York thrash scene.
The music is angry, almost approaching death metal in its grumpy attitude, and as far from melodic as thrash ever got. It was on par with the most aggressive German bands of the time, but with an original take on things. Nothing really sounded like A.R.G. for a long time, and they certainly left their imprint on the minds of a generation of thrash fans in Finland.
Finnish thrashers A.R.G. return for another fine slab of monstrous Death/Thrash on “One World Without End” The collection of songs here are about as subtle as a wrecking ball to the face. The sound of this album is notably more advanced than their debut. The arrangements are clearly more ambitious and it appears the band decided to refine their sound to a certain extent. However, the band still remains intent on delivering a tirade of no-holds barred, explosive Death/Thrash. The songs on here are still immense focused kicks to the skull. Nevertheless,  the production is significantly clearer than their debut as it is much more metallic and sharp.
However, aside from the ravaging speed the band also slows down on the massive twelve minute track “One World without the End”. Still, what we have here is A.R.G. firing on all cylinders. This is as probably as vicious and unapologetic as Thrash can get but it’s also the bands most mature and controlled effort.
Overall, the album is another very strong output from these classic Thrashers. If obscure, quality thrash metal is you’re game then this would be another fine addition to collect.
