Kinsella is best known for his other bands American Football and Cap'n Jazz and has developed a cult following as Owen. Whereas previous Owen albums have been more somber affairs, touring with Cap'n Jazz in 2010 had a direct impact with the recording/writing of Ghost Town. As a result, the album features some of Owen's loudest, rock-leaning moments to date -- exemplified by the forcefully crescendoing outro of "I Believe" and the screeching electric guitar solo in "Everyone's Asleep in the House but Me."
