Album "The Antichrist" was originally released in 2001 and was the seventh studio album by German thrash gods, Destruction, one of Teutonic Big Four (with Kreator, Sodom and Tankard).
The album features heavy hitters like "Thrash Till Death" (with lyrics relating to classic thrash metal albums) and "Nailed to The Cross", which became necessary in the band's live repertoire to this day.
Many fans still consider "The Antichrist" to be Destruction's best material released after the band's reunion with Schmier on vocals in 1999. The album, mostly very aggressive, is filled with classic thrash riffs and furious but technical guitar solos and can truly be placed alongside Destruction's classic albums. The band suggested in interviews that the album's title refers to their classic anthem from 1985's "Infernal Overkill" album.
It's worth to mention that "The Antichrist" received excellent reviews worldwide, describing the record as one of the best thrash albums recorded at a time when the genre's heyday was far behind it. Recorded at the Abyss Studio in Sweden, with the lineup: Schmier on vocals/bass, Mike Sifringer on guitar, and Sven Vormann on drums.
