As well as being mentor to the likes of Steve Vai and Metallica’s Kirk Hammett, Joe Satriani’s own instrumental prowess was enjoying some critical applause in 1986/87. However, 1988 proved to be Satriani’s year with two albums under his belt and a worldwide hit in Surfing With The Alien. On top of that was his new role backing Mick Jagger for the Rolling Stones singer’s ‘She’s The Boss’ tour In Australia and New Zealand, giving Satriani the wider exposure he needed and deserved. These two shows from April and June 1988 perfectly capture the innovative, signature flourishes and techniques that have placed his name alongside greats such as Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jeff Beck and Eddie Van Halen.
