180 gram LP + Free bonus CD of the album This collection of brilliant sides, all recorded in New York City for the Savoy label from 1945-1948, represent the very apex of Charlie Parker's career. Several tracks feature Bird's all-star quintet, with a young Miles Davis (who was just 19 on "Billie's Bounce" and "Thrivin' On A Riff") on trumpet, Max Roach on drums and legendary bebop pianist Buddy Powell on piano. Songs like "Buzzy" and "Chasin' The Bird" are also particularly significant because they represent some of the only existing recordings of Powell and Bird together.
