U2 announce their first full-length studio album with entirely new material in nine years, Carnaval De Luz.

 

In the week marking 50 years since Larry Mullen Jr. in September 1976 put up a handwritten note on the notice board at Mount Temple Comprehensive School in North Dublin with the words ‘Drummer Seeks Musicians To Form Band’, a new work arrives, demonstrating that Bono, The Edge, Adam Clayton, and Larry Mullen Jr. continue to explore new dimensions and possibilities in their creative process.

 

Carnaval De Luz was recorded widely and produced by Jacknife Lee. The album consists of 12 songs that explore themes such as spirituality, friendship, freedom, and perseverance in the face of encroaching dark forces. Sonically, there are echoes of some of the band's most experimental material combined with tight songwriting craftsmanship on tracks like ‘The Greatest Show On Earth’, ‘Glorify’, and ‘Midnight Sunshine’ as well as the 2-minute and 35-second tribute to the sassy energy of early surf punk, ‘Silencio’.

 

This deluxe box set edition of Carnaval De Luz contains the new album as well as the two previous EPs, Days Of Ash and Easter Lily, in one complete package.
