With major international tours and chart placements around the world, after more than 30 years BORKNAGAR remain a consistently evolving force. Since their beginnings during the mid-’90s, the Norwegian mainstays have pushed past black metal’s grim domain. While another shift for the band, their 2004 album, now reissued on vinyl, truly is a progressive epic.

‘Epic’ doesn't stray too far from BORKNAGAR’s olden domain. “Future Reminiscence” begins with a harsh gust of old-school blast beats, only to soften amidst folksy flute, delicate acoustics and the powerful cleans of newly cemented vocalist Vintersorg. Hammond organ, fretless bass, philosophical questioning and other wonderfully progressive touches cycle like electricity through the tracklist’s many inner chambers, leading the band toward their destiny.

On ‘Epic’, BORKNAGAR established themselves as a consistently evolving force for progressive black metal.
