Superb Clash broadcast recording from 1982!
When punk arrived in the UK in the mid-seventies it sent shock waves around the country. Spearheading the musical assault on all we had previously known were The Clash, a mighty punk rock machine that exhilarated its audience and recklessly combined influences such as dub reggae, rockabilly and ska.
The Clash at their best on stage in Tokyo during the band's tour of the Far East in 1982. The band had just finished recording "Combat Rock", but none of the songs from the soon-to-be-released album made the setlist. Here we’ve got The Clash powering through 13 songs including the hits 'London Calling', 'This Is Radio Clash' and 'Tommy Gun'. At one point, bassist Paul Simonon’s wife Pearl Harbor (a.k.a. Pearl E. Gates) of the new wave band Pearl Harbor and the Explosions joins the band onstage to sing 'Fujiyama Mama'. The set comes to a close with a rousing performance of 'White Riot'.
