Even after turning 70, Kim Gordon’s musical curiosity and originality remain completely intact. Her vision of art and noise continues to come into sharper focus, evolving as naturally as it always has. A paradigm of possibilities that, even after four decades, still feels challenging and forward-looking. The journey continues on her third solo album, "PLAY ME", set for release on March 13, 2026.

 

"PLAY ME" engages with multiple themes: the erosion of democracy, technocratic fascism, and an AI-driven culture where dark humor gives voice to the absurdities of modern life. Yet despite its outward-looking concerns, "PLAY ME" is an inward-facing album, where heightened emotional intensity pulses through physical jams and resists fixed statements in favor of an open-ended curiosity that keeps Gordon searching.

 

The lead single “Not Today” is another strikingly vital statement from Kim Gordon. It charges forward effortlessly like an indie rock anthem from a bygone era, but with a nearly deconstructed undercurrent that makes the song unmistakably Gordon’s own.
