Thrash revival enthusiasts Warbringer managed to create the perfect album with Worlds Torn Asunder. So, do they try to outdo it with a heavier album? No, but that doesn't mean they can't bring the goods again. They once again worked with producer Steve Evetts (The Dillinger Escape Plan, Snapcase, Symphony X, Hatebreed), but brought in Brett Eliason (Pearl Jam, Heart, Mad Season) for mixing. I'm not familiar with anything Brett has done, but his style of mixing seems to be on the raw side compared to Evetts. That doesn't mean it sounds bad, just don't expect the in-your-face sound from Warbringer's earlier albums. For anybody familiar with Slayer, IV: Empires Collapse is like South Of Heaven/Seasons In The Abyss for Warbringer. If that's what you like, then do get this. This also includes a bonus DVD, but don't get excited about it. The War Without End fifth anniversary show is cool, but nothing awesome. The studio footage and road footage that's also included can easily be viewed on youtube.
